Kelly lives in San Rafael, CA (which is across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco). She competes competitively in triathlon and spends nearly all her time on her bike, in the pool or out running some of the best trails in the country.

After graduating from UC Berkeley, she worked at a start-up fashion magazine for a year and learned more about fashion and photo shoots than she ever wanted to know. She's starting a new job as a reporter for the local MarinScopes newspapers and harbors dreams of becoming the female Edward Murrow. Splash Star Darryl Hannah Joins Extreme Anti-Whaling Group Seen on Animal Planet

Darryl Hannah, who once played a mermaid, will be joining the hard-line anti-whaling group Sea Shepherd on their annual chase of Japanese whaling ships. Sea Shepherd is the focus of an Animal Planet Series,
“Whale Wars”.
Hannah will be joining Sea Shepherd on their flagship, the Steve Irwin, as they left yesterday to chase down Japanese whalers and attempt to use non-violent means to stop the whaling. Sea Shepherd is known for their hard-line stance against whaling and for their pirate-like tactics. They have in the past been labeled “eco-terrorists” and confrontations between whaling ships and the Steve Irwin have sometimes turned violent.

In a scandalous PETA ad that has her draped naked over a horse, Kristen Johnson denounces horse-drawn carriages as cruel.
The former 3rd Rock from the Sun star released the ad, which reads “Don’t Get Taken for a Ride, Horse-Drawn Carriages are Cruel, last week. The ad features Johnson naked on a horse.

Celebrities like Nicole Richie Walk the ‘Green Carpet’ at Environmental Media Awards

Nicole Richie, Rosario Dawson and more celebrities came together to award the Simpsons and 30 Rock for promoting environmental concerns in their entertainment efforts.
The Environmental Media Awards have been presented since 1991 and launched the concept of the “green carpet”. The awards go to TV shows, movies and musicians that use their entertainment role to promote environmental concerns. The awards, which were presented this year on November 13, also promote an eco-friendly awards gala and organic food.

With environmentalism becoming the norm, the Environmental Media Awards have gone mainstream with stars like Nicole Richie, Rosario Dawson and Amy Smart (wearing an eco-friendly black gown) walking the green carpet.

No Gas in North Carolina; Gas Stations Closed

For two weeks in the end of September, there was no gas to be found in the county surrounding Asheville, North Carolina and most of the gas stations remained closed.
The recent hurricanes are being blamed for shutting down the nation’s gas supply by up to 22%. But the problem remained far worse in this region of North Carolina.

Even over a week after the main pipeline to the East Coast, the Colonial pipeline, had reopened, gas remained scarce and there were few answers as to why.
