I finally opened an Etsy store! My first item: a 75% recycled-cotton scarf.

So I wouldn’t say we were incredibly green this weekend, but we were relatively green.
The dude who lives on the other side of Mr. Obsessively Mowing hadn’t mowed in a long time–longer than it had been for us. So on the weekend, he mowed his yard. . .with a riding mower. . .then used a weedwhacker. . .then used a leafblower. . .then mowed again. . .while smoking. Way to cancel out your lack of pollution, dude.
Bill mowed too–with our [...]

As I mentioned, I am not supposed to use citrus products on my silverware. I came to realize that I didn’t actually know for a fact that the Cascade I was using didn’t contain citrus, so I emailed the company to inquire. Here is the actual word-for-word response I got:

ARGH!
My silverware requires that I use a non-citrus detergent (so no lemon, no orange, no grapefruit, no citric acid, no anything citrate). We’ve been using plain Cascade in the dishwasher–but there’s no ingredient list on the Cascade box, so I can’t guarantee that there’s no citrus in it!

We remembered to take our bags to the grocery store last night and to use them! The bagger thought we were buying the Halloween ChicoBags and tucked them into a different bag *eyeroll*, but other than that things went decently. We ended up with two or three plastic bags in addition to the two canvas bags and two ChicoBags. My mom says she’s planning to make bags for me, too. And our Annie’s bag with Bernie on it is currently [...]

The road to going green is, in my mind, quite mixed with the road to going healthier. Getting rid of our aluminum cookware is divided into the same category of my thoughts as using cloth napkins or recycled-paper towels. So what are we doing to get green & healthy now?

Found these LED tea lights, and they’re awesome, and it’s a good deal!

No more using up lots of wax tea lights, no more blown-out flames, no more burning risks, hopefully no more toxins!

Well, we went on vacation. When you are out away from big stores and need particular products (and don’t have time to arrange special orders locally), it can be very hard to cut down on the miles you travel. What we did manage to do:
buy some nice organic and natural products (some of which we could get on vacation, but can’t find at home!)
recycle
get better mileage (Bill fixed the exhaust before we left)

Sadly, our little green pumpkin that was doing so well deflated and turned yellow. "Where’s my pumpkin go?" my poor son asked. The plant hasn’t stopped blooming, but I don’t know if I expect more pumpkins or not. Our raspberries look like they’re doing okay despite the fact that little bugs attacked the leaves this year. We got maybe an ear’s worth of popcorn.
