I love everything Amy Butler, from her scrapbook papers to her eco gift wraps, and of course her fabric. I peruse the Amy Butler Design site often to check for new things and I almost always find something delightful. This time what I found wasn’t fabric or paper, but it does come in a gorgeous bottle.

Soak in Sola by Amy Butler is a biodegradable, phosphate-free, rinse-free fabric wash made in collaboration with Soak. Soak’s fiber-friendly cleanser is designed for the most delicate hand-washables, including quilts, knits, cross-stitch, and lingerie. The no-rinse solution has even been used for pets and stuffed animals. This limited edition version is scented with Amy’s signature fragrance called Sola. They say Sola is a soft comforting fragrance like an evening walk through the garden. The bottle is simple and beautiful.

Tutorial: Inside Out Notecards - Part 1

I am still looking for ways to transform my stash of plain boring notecards. I showed you how to use fabric scraps and stamps to “recover” the card. Now I want to share a fun way to turn an ugly blank-inside card into a lovely postcard or notecard. In a two part series I will show you how to make inside out notecards using a craft punch (like the oak leaf card) in Part 1 and how to make inside out notecards with your own cut out design (like the “Hi.” card) in Part 2.

Use left over paper scraps to make this charming family tree perfect to tuck into a scrapbook or frame for display.

I used left over scraps I had of Amy Butler Lotus scrapbook paper, but here are 5 other great paper sources for this project. (Note: Some of these options may not be archival.)

Upcycle greeting cards
Use colorful magazine clippings
Use pages from an old atlas or map (like Julie did to make her own envelopes)
Cut up leftover paint chips
Instead of paper use Eco-fi Felt

Eco-friendly Recycled Scrapbook Paper

It is certainly a challenge crafting a green scrapbook, but K & Company has kept sustainability in mind by introducing two eco-friendly scrapbook collections. Each collection is printed with soy-based inks, on recycled paper, with recycled and reusable packaging. The Lotus Collection features the hypnotic floral designs of Amy Butler, while the ReMake Collection meets basic needs for colored paper and chipboard embellishments.

If you love Amy Butler’s fabric designs you will swoon over her paper line. The Lotus Collection, by the famed fabric and surface designer, is printed with soy-based inks on post-consumer waste recycled paper. Lotus products come in recycled pakaging made from 95% post-consumer waste. What’s more is the packaging is reusable. The back card stock of the paper pads is printed with cut-outs that can be used as embellishments.
