“We need to stop giving money to the bad banks, they just eat it, they don’t actually hand it out to people and do anything useful with it. We have to give money to the good banks. The fundamental strategy that has been followed since the Bush Administration to try to recover from this is flawed…the good banks will go and make good loans to people, to businesses, to small businesses in particular, and the economy will recover.”

Green Living Ideas points to a couple of new films that may be worth checking out: Disney’s Earth, and A Sea Change.

Cleantechnica profiles a family that’s tweeting its energy use today. Triplepundit covers this one, also.

Speaking of “Screw Earth Day,” Grist wishes all a “Happy F’ing Earth Day!”

We missed this when it happened a couple of weeks ago, but a bank in South Africa has been up to some interesting advertising gimmicks. Billing itself as a “truly green bank,” Nedbank installed what is being called the world’s first billboard made from woven plastic bags in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The billboard was created using 2,000 (!) reclaimed plastic bags that were woven together to make the billboard, which measures over 120 feet in length. Nedbank employed seven crafters to create the billboard, taking them about six weeks to complete the project, making this a huge handmade project.

Wells Fargo Introduces Wind Powered Rewards Options

Your credit just got a little greener.

Wells Fargo credit card and bank card customers have another choice in redeeming rewards points. Now, in addition to gift cards or airline tickets, Wells Fargo is offering up wind power. 5,000 points will get you 6,000 kilowatt hours, which they say is "equivalent to the clean air benefits of three acres of pine forest storing carbon for one year." 10,000 points will probably offset your carbon output for a whole year.

The green power points will be available to cardholders in May, which is the same time Bright Planet's Bright Card is set to launch. Bank of America isn't far behind Bright Planet on the US front, and The Barclaycard will hit the UK this summer.

So, the big question is (aside from, "What's in Your Wallet?") will people take advantage of these green credit options or will they stick with the emission intensive air miles? Would you choose to support wind power projects or put your spending power towards travel?
