Fashion Conscience: Sexy Aaron Chang Bikinis

Bikini season is fast approaching, and we’ve got plenty of sexy options to share. Aaron Chang is one of our favorites as he is the pioneer of eco beachwear. Chang is not only a green swimsuit designer, he is also a talented surf photographer. His suits are reversible and as colorful as his photos, and the best part is that they’re made from recycled plastic bottle fiber.

Nikki Sayavanh for nikster™ Wins the Best Eco-creative Swimwear Designer Poll

The contest winner of Chic Eco’s 2009 swimwear designer poll is Nikki Sayavanh for Nikster LLC. Her bikinis, all made with sustainable materials, are inspired by nature and healthy living. The company motto is “the sexier side of green” for swimwear collections that are beyond traditional bikinis.

Nikki offers genuine Brazilian bikinis and eco-bikinis with an exotic flair. Some of her designs are carefully hand-finished through macrame stitching, embroidered beads or hand-painting. The accessories are made with coconuts, bamboo, shells, pearls, stones, wood, recycled metals, and other hand-selected tropical elements from around the globe. Manufacturing the eco-bikini line in the U.S. reduces her company’s carbon footprint. Even the packaging is recycled.

  1. The first look shown is an affordable, Aaron Chang suit, with class and style. “A classy, full-coverage one-piece with gold accent straps. Adjustable tie straps criss-cross the back. It has a nice stretch, and will stay put during water sports.”

Feel Sexy and Hot in that Bikini this Summer: Modeling Green Swimsuits at the Beach

  1. Kelly B has created by far the most sophisticated eco swimsuit seen yet! Front ring gathers the top, under bust stitching provides shaping and lined in front for full coverage. “Halter ties remove so you can wear it strapless if you prefer. 3 fabric strips on each side give this 1-piece back interest. They tie together for a perfect fit around the bodice.”
  2. For less coverage try this triangle bikini by Anna Cohen (a Portland based designer on a mission to marry cutting edge fashion with sustainability) which has flattering low rise, side tie bottoms with a neck and back tie triangle top. The beautiful teal color is fade resistant and will dry fast. “Created using surplus fabric leftover from making Olympic speed skater uniforms”
  3. Named the Blissful bikini by Nikster.

Bikini Season on the Horizon….

v272470_edit_6m-1.jpg I simply love this new recycled and reversible swimsuit out now by Victoria’s Secret. I’m really impressed with how the company is shaping up and evolving from their troubled past.A fresh start for them was making their catalog green a couple years ago (thanks to the amazing activists and the will inside the organization) thank goodness. The guest designer for this adorable green suit is Aaron Chang. Chang is a well known surf photographer turned swim wear designer. Aaron is creating sexy swimsuit lines from 100% recycled plastic soda bottles. He started off with organic cotton.Swimsuit themes are inspired by the natural world with sunsets, oceanscapes, botanicals, and animals, all of them brilliant and colorful.. They are also reversible so it is like getting two suits for the price of one. Such a smart, sweet and simple concept.
