I am a firm believer that if electric cars are to gain widespread acceptance, they first need to be proven in America’s congested cities. Most city dwellers usually don’t drive that far, have access to alternate forms of transportation, and likely spend more time on their iPhones than in a car anyway. It is the perfect proving ground for electric cars.
The MINILUX Solar Car concept realizes this, and rather than serving as an expensive paperweight while sitting idle, it can actually return energy back to the grid. It’s pretty neat looking too, aside from those funky wheels.
The Audi E-Tron electric sports car is a go, according to Audi of America President Johan de Nysschen. The super-futuristic electric car that debuted at the Frankfurt Auto Show was such a hit that de Nysschen thinks there will be working examples on the road within two years.

As a rule, I avoid all things LA. The traffic, the sprawl–it's an intimidating place, and it certainly doesn't seem very environmentally conscious. Then again, life thrives in the most inhospitable environments; challenges spur innovation. Where better than the city with more roads and freeways than any other to introduce the next generation in transportation?

A California car company called ZAP is developing a line of electric vehicles and has recently added 12 new dealerships to the 30 it already has committed to its line.
ZAP teamed with a British design firm, Lotus Engineering, to develop an electric-powered, seven passenger, all-wheel-drive crossover vehicle that has a 350 mile range between battery charges. Although it won’t be available for several years with a starting price of around $60,000, ZAP CEO

There's no definitive answer to that question (yet), but the Detroit Free Press reports that Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm is putting the hard sell on California-based Tesla Motors (creator of the very cool electric vehicle, the Tesla Roadster) to locate a new manufacturing facility in the Wolverine State.
