Glenn Beck recently called President Obama a ‘white racist’ and Van Jones a ‘black nationalist’ and ‘avowed communist’. He’s also compared Al Gore to Hitler, has expressed hatred for Jimmy Carter, and has said he’s thought about killing Michael Moore, among many other wonderfully angry things.

Well Glenn, it’s well known in the world of psychology that what you hate most in others may be the shadow in yourself. Therefore, apparently under that doughy, tough-talking exterior lies a little, angry (still doughy) man who is dying to let out his white-people hating, liberal loving, black nationalist, communist, socialist, Hitler-esque self…

Long thought of as loud-mouth talking-heads that serve only to divide our nation with their far-right wing positions, it turns out Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, and Glenn Beck are secretly saving the world one small ecological-footprint at a time.

Here is the first of a series of installments shining a light on what these environmental superheroes are doing to help heal Mother Earth. I only hope the actions of the “Trust-Us League” inspire the masses!

The Positive Side of the Green Life: What Have Environmental Activists Done Well?

On a more uplifting note than the one of balance-teetering dismay I struck the other day with a post – CNN’s Glenn Beck and Other Doubters Need More Faith – here’s why I think the green side of mankind may be moving in a good direction.

It cheers me to realize that “green” is a common term these days. Sure, it is arguably over- and mis-used as it’s become a buzz word for marketers. But we’ll get past that, around it, through it…whatever.

Walking on the bright side of life for a bit, I think the fact that environmentalism, global warming, recycling, alternative energies and so on are in the broader public discussion at all shows that the long-timers who’ve been making this argument for decades have gained some ground for us all.

CNN’s Glenn Beck and Other Doubters Need More Faith

Glenn Beck doesn’t get it. And that’s a problem for all of us.

The conservative CNN journalist published a commentary on CNN.com on Aug. 8 titled: Drive Naked, Save America.

In it he knocks the smaller efforts that individuals can make to confront the energy crisis on their own – peak oil, record gas prices, related economic woes, etc. – rather than wait for politicians to sort out the mess with so-called solutions such as offshore drilling.

In his commentary, he bangs up presumptive Democratic Presidential Candidate Barack Obama who recently echoed some well-known advice: Keep your tires properly inflated; it enhances fuel economy by up to 3 percent. Those details are touted at fueleconomy.gov, among countless other places.

Beck complains that solutions that require individuals to act in such small ways are inherently flawed because they require so many people following suit to make a notable impact.
