    <description><![CDATA[<h3>Have you checked out the new ad from Apple highlighting their green features? After Greenpeace ranked Apple as <a href="http://www.greenpeace.org/international/press/releases/electronic-companies-race-for">the worst technology company in terms of environmental issues</a>, Apple has worked to clean up their act. The <a href="http://www.macnn.com/articles/08/11/25/apple.green.macbook.ad/">new Mac notebooks</a> are their answer.</h3>
<blockquote><p>The company touts the devices as &#8220;the world&#8217;s greenest family of notebooks,&#8221; due to the combination of <a class="iAs" href="http://www.macnn.com/articles/08/11/25/apple.green.macbook.ad/#" target="_blank">recyclable</a> materials, efficient power consumption and lack of hazardous chemicals. Steve Jobs <a rel="nofollow" href="http://macnn.com/rd/116456==http://www.macnn.com/articles/08/10/17/apple.2008.green.report/">issued a summary letter</a> shortly after the new MacBook debut, outlining the company&#8217;s <a class="iAs" href="http://www.macnn.com/articles/08/11/25/apple.green.macbook.ad/#" target="_blank">environmental</a> efforts. The statement reiterated the promised to remove PVC and brominated flame retardants (BFRs) from all hardware by the end of 2008.</p></blockquote>

<p>It&#8217;s also more environmentally friendly than most. Using it&#8217;s patented <em>Power Saving</em> mode that has three settings - Power Down, Standby and Idle, it automatically gauges drive usage to reduce energy consumption and prolong the life of hard drive. In addition to the power saving modes, it also comes with power monitoring software to help it use 75% less power than similar hard drives.</p>
<p>Mac and PC compatible, the USB 2.0 drive is 3.5&#8243; and comes in a variety of storage capacities.</p>
