The European Union is on the cutting-edge of green technology; already ahead of many nations through its introduction a ban of incandescent light bulbs that began on September 1, 2009. The ban of these incandescent light bulbs has a goal of reducing region-wide energy costs through use of the more eco-friendly compact fluorescent light bulbs instead.

In order to cut greenhouse emissions, fight climate change and save energy, 27 countries in the European Union (EU) are gradually phasing out traditional light bulbs.  As of September 1st, 2009, 100-watt and frosted incandescent light bulbs can no longer be manufactured or imported, although stores can sell their remaining stock.

Rather than try to steal his thunder, this post looks at some basic, simple, green products that can make your everyday life many times greener.

OK, we know Rush Limbaugh hates them, but now Congress? U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R, Minnesota) is sponsoring a bill known as the “Light Bulb Freedom of Choice Act,” which would put a stop to the federal energy bill’s mandate to phase out regular incandescent bulbs starting in 2012.
