MSNBC to Air 2 Hour Special on Animal Conservation: “100 Heartbeats”

Writing for GreenOptions I sometimes get contacted by PR firms wanting to promote projects. Sight unseen I usually shrug them off, I happen to only write about items that I have seen or used, and can feel good about endorsing. When MSNBC contacted me the other day with a preview of a new special on animal conservation, I figured it was probably more of the same stories I have seen over and over again. However, when I watched the preview it sucked me in. It is hosted by Jeff Corwin, a famous naturalist you have probably seen on TV. I can say wholeheartedly that this looks like something that I can feel good about endorsing.

Every 20 minutes a species will go extinct, 20,000 species this year, and this Sunday, November 22, 8PM Eastern MSNBC will be airing “100 Heartbeats” hosted by Jeff Corwin to fight back. You can watch the preview here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/33490448#33490448

How Do You Build the World’s Biggest Wind Farm?

We recently learned that Denmark plans on building the world’s largest wind farm. With a net installed capacity of 209 MW, Horns Rev 2 (companion to Horns Rev 1) will provide power to 200,000 homes. The North Sea offshore wind farm is scheduled for completion later this year.

Olbermann and Others on Congressional Twitter Gaffes [video]

Keith Olbermann jabs at a couple members of Congress (and allegedly, their aides) for what they were Twittering and what they were retracting during Barack Obama’s first address to a joint session of congress last night. Olbermann also gives two reasons why he isn’t personally on twitter: There are already enough people following him, and; he tried it but couldn’t figure it out.

Worst U.S. President Ever: There’s Competition

Although, the case has been made that George W. Bush was the Worst President Ever, a recent survey found that James Buchanan should earn the dubious distinction. Buchanan may not have been the reason the U.S. plunged into civil war, but he didn’t do much to prevent it either. Watch it:
