Friday Find :: Handmade, Sweatshop-Free Handbag Designer Moop Launches ‘Organics’ Line

I’ve admired Moop for some time now.  Having discovered them initially on Etsy, I have been following the evolution of the company and their bags wishing that one day they would incorporate organic textiles in their designs.  Well, that day has come and they’ve launched their very popular Market Bag in organic cotton with more on the way!  Based in Massachusetts, the brain-child of Wendy Downs, is a small operation that makes all its bags from start to finish in their studio and prides itself on quality craftsmenship that’s designed to last.  Wendy is not only the owner, designer and seamstress, she is also the model for all her bags.  Most recently VenusZine nominated Moop in their HOTT LIST as one of the Best Indie Businesses of 2008.  (If you’re already a fan, you can nominate them here).

Sneak Peak: Stewart+Brown Fall Collection And Interview With Howard Brown

Karen Stewart and Howard Brown, partners in life and work, call themselves “Organic Pioneers” because when they began in 2002 there wasn’t much demand for things like sustainable fabrics and eco-conscious style.  They decided to break out of the typical textile mold, had a vision for something greater and have undoubtedly been trailblazers in the industry.

I was given an exclusive sneak peak of their Fall Collection which hits stores within the next couple weeks.  You can expect the same quality craftsmanship and romantic looks that are quintessential Stewart+Brown

Last week I had the opportunity to interview Howard Brown.  Check out the interview below…
