Activist Who Slimed British Minister Has Now Been Arrested

Leila Deen, a 29-year-old activist with the anti-aviation group Plane Stupid, has been arrested for the slime “attack” on a British minister last week after initially getting away without any repercussions.

Deen walked away after tossing green goo in the face of the British Secretary of State for Business. She was not immediately apprehended and even stopped in with the BBC for an interview later.

A protester from the anti-aviation group Plane Stupid managed to toss a cup of green slime in the face of Lord Mandelson before scolding him for his support for the third runway at Heathrow airport.

Amazingly, the woman walked away without being arrested and has now come forward to identify herself as 29-year-old Leila Deen. She said that Mandelson is directly responsible for the approval of the plans to build the third runway.

Activists Shut Down Airport With Golf Course in Runway

Nine anti-aviation activists with the group Plane Stupid Scotland shut down an Aberdeen airport in protest of its plans for expansion.

The airport expansion is being funded and supported by Donald Trump, who is opening a nearby golf resort — which in itself is a point of contention with environmentalists for its location on previously-protected land.

While some of the Plane Stupid activists played golf inside fortified security fencing, others (including one dressed as Trump) scaled the terminal building and unfurled a banner that read “Nae Trump Games with Climate Change.”

New Website Details Greenpeace’s Anti-Heathrow Expansion Plans

Greenpeace has launched a new website to explain what they intend to do with the small plot of land they purchased in the area where the runway is planned to be built.

The organization has invited the public to become beneficial owners of the land with over 36,000 people signed up so far. They hope to have at least 100,000 owners to further complicate the process for the airport to buy the land.

How You Can Buy Part of Greenpeace’s Heathrow Plot

We covered the exciting news earlier that Greenpeace has purchased a $30,000 plot of land in the middle of the area that had been earmarked to become a third runway for England’s Heathrow Airport. Since Greenpeace announced the plan yesterday, publish support has been astounding.

Over 5,000 people have already bought parcels of Greenpeace’s plot. The idea is that the more people who own the land, the harder it will be for the airport’s owners to buy the land later — which hopefully will never happen. The owner of the company has already called Greenpeace’s plan “clever.”

Well, I’m going to assume that most of our readers here on Planetsave wouldn’t mind getting in on the action. Greenpeace has made that quite easy:

Greenpeace Buys Land Planned for UK Airport Expansion

Greenpeace has purchased a field previously earmarked to use to build a controversial third runway at UK’s Heathrow Airport.

Greenpeace intends to invite protesters to set-up camp in the soccer-field-sized space. They also intend to sell small parcels of the land to separate owners in order to force BAA, the airport’s owners, to negotiate a land purchase with each individual land owner.

Hundreds Block UK Airport Terminal with Dinner Party

Hundreds of activists are currently blocking a departure gate at Heathrow Airport in England. The group is protesting the planned third runway at the airport, which is expected to be approved by the government this week.

The peaceful act of civil disobedience was organized by Climate Rush, the same group that shut down Parliament when they rushed the building in October. In addition to environmental activists, residential neighbors to the airport have been vocal in their opposition to the third runway.

Plane Stupid Close Stansted Airport

A group of young activists from Plane Stupid sliced through security fencing at Stansted Airport, in Essex, Britain, at 3 am on Monday. Forty-nine people have been charged.

The Spy Who Was ‘Plane Stupid’

image_thumb7 It’s been an intriguing week for British environmental activists, with the discovery of a spy in the camp at UK aviation protest group Plane Stupid.

Ultimately the spy, an employee of C2i International who specialize in ’special risk management’ (otherwise known as industrial espionage) was little match for Plane Stupid, who described him as “more Austin Powers than James Bond”.

Accounts of the episode reveal that Ken Tobias (real name Tobias Kendall), made a number of basic errors, including:

    • Wearing expensive designer clothes (which he attempted to disguise by wearing a Palestinian scarf to give some environmental credibility)
    • Turning up to meetings consistently early
    • Demonstrating an unusual eagerness to reap mayhem on British airport infrastructure by suggesting the grandest and most aggressive schemes
    • Allowing information on planned activities to be published almost immediately in the press
