I cannot believe we haven’t covered LIVE Textiles yet in our Fab Fabric series. I found them a while ago, but my interest was reignited when I saw some of their new prints for sale at Near Sea Naturals.

We are seeing lots of new organic cotton prints lately, like the Urbana Collection by Daisy Janie and the upcoming My Happy Garden collection by Cloud 9. Now there are a few more organic cotton prints available from Sukie, a UK-based design company.

The only major player in printed organic cotton sateen used to be Harmony Art, but now there is a new kid in the game.  I first adored Daisy Janie fabrics when I featured her linen/cotton blend fabrics in the Top 10 Modern, Eco-friendly, Printed Fabrics on Etsy.  She has just released a new collection of printed organic cotton sateen.

I’m drooling a little over these new prints on organic cotton and hemp from Thea and Sami.

Australian artist Thea Samios prints fabrics featuring bright, cheery designs using Earth-friendly inks. She offers some prints on organic cotton and others on organic hemp/cotton blends. Conventional cotton production contributes to 25% of the world’s pesticides. Switching to organic is better for workers, better for the planet, and better for your health! We talked just last week about the benefits of hemp. It’s sustainable, durable, and uses far fewer chemicals than conventional fabrics. Thea also uses water-based dyes that are solvent free, which means an even further reduced environmental impact.
