The crown jewel of Greenpeace’s naval arm, the Rainbow Warrior, pulled in to the harbor alongside the Kingsnorth coal-fired power plant today before six activists stormed the facility to prepare to project video of impacts of global warming onto the plant’s giant smokestack.
The action comes mere months after a jury acquitted Greenpeace protesters who had vandalized the same smokestack. The court ruled that the activists were acting in the public’s interest because the power plant will cause property destruction in the future due to its release of climate-changing greenhouse gases.
So far, Greenpeace says there have been no arrests.

A small group of protesters attracted plenty of attention on the streets outside the World Bank’s recent meeting in Washington DC by painting oil barrels and lumps of coal green.
A spokesperson was on hand to explain how the protest represents the World Bank’s excessive greenwashing:
Don’t be fooled. The World Bank has great environmental rhetoric… but when you look at what they actually do, you find that they’re financing the greatest causes of climate change: fossil fuels.
Check out the video bellow the jump. It may be the closest coal will ever get to being “green.”

On Monday night, three colleagues of mine from the Kentucky Kernel were arrested while documenting the protests outside the Republican National Convention. Nothing indicates that any of the three were actually participating in the protests, much less violating any laws that would warrant their arrest.

If you want to catch someone’s attention, go naked (I hear this is also a good way to stop Jehovah’s Witnesses from coming to your home)! Yesterday in Madrid, protester rode bikes in the buff to protest the expansion of automobile usage and draw attention to the benefits of bike riding.
