China, Pakistan Plan Solar Partnership to Face Energy Crisis

In an effort to tackle Pakistan’s growing energy shortage, representatives of the burgeoning Chinese solar industry have offered to cooperate with the country on a high profile partnership to manufacture solar energy equipment.

The offer was made at a press conference to promote the 2010 International Solar Cities Congress, to be held in Shangong province. Speaking at the event, Huang Ming, Vice‑President of the International Solar Energy Society said, “Pakistan and China are like brothers. We are eager to promote our solar energy industry in Pakistan.”

India to Bottle and Sell Waste Water from Hydrogen Fuel Cells

Indian company Bharat Petroleum has announced plans to bottle purified waste water from the manufacture of hydrogen fuel cells, and sell it at it’s fueling stations across the nation.

In a country plagued by poor water quality and shortages across many regions, the company is keen to exploit high demand for pure bottled water. According to some estimates, as many as 1,600 Indians die every day as a result of water-borne diseases.

Atlanta is the poster child for shortages within the U.S. lately. The national news has been paying a bit less attention to the severe drought conditions here to focus on our recent fuel shortage. When the water crisis first broke, it felt like I couldn’t have a conversation that didn’t turn to watering restrictions - on what days we were allowed to water our gardens, that shameful neighbor who ran his sprinklers for over an hour, or the pros and cons of taking navy showers.

Then hurricane Ike hit, cutting off the supply of boutique fuel the EPA requires in this city, and conversations took a sudden turn around here.
