A partnership between two companies will develop a home energy monitoring device for residential solar power installations.
Two startups – Tendril Networks, known for its home energy monitoring technology and Fat Spaniel technologies, a solar panel monitoring company – make up the partnership. The purpose of the partnership is to develop a monitoring device for homes that can gauge the sun’s intensity for any particular time and automatically adjust, or even shut down, home appliances as needed.

As today’s blue collar workers lament the loss of jobs to illegal immigrants or offshoring, a whole new movement is afoot that very well may provide the solution to unemployment woes. As we experience the total revolution of our economy as we know it, an entirely new set of jobs are being created; green collar jobs. In fact, not since the Industrial Age has the global economy experienced the onsite of such a dramatic transformation!

One of the critical issues to come out of the Advancing the New Energy Economy Summit is the shortage of green laborers who have the skills to retrofit buildings, build new green construction, install solar panels and built wind farms. This news has a number of implications for green careers of all kinds.
