Alternative-fuel supercars really seem to be picking up steam. Hybrid Lamborghinis? Electric Gullwings? All very cool stuff, but the field is quickly becoming crowded by competitors to the eco-supercar crown. A new California-based company called Steenstra GCM has announced the Styletto, “the first 200-mph-plus super sports car to be built in California” according to the press release.

Hey, Can We Take it For a Ride?
You’ve no doubt wondered how a $500,000, 420bhp sportscar would run, right? I mean after all, what would it be like to go from 0-62 mph in just 3.2 seconds?
That’s what 44 year old Martin Holz and Friedrich Voller, 53, had in mind when they asked a car dealer in Moenchengladbach, Germany if they could take it for a spin. The car, built as a prototype by the Vemot AG company, was on display and just too much of a temptation.

27 year old Joe Harmon and several students from North Carolina State University wanted to see if it was possible to build a performance car out of wood.
It may not be in the showroom soon, but their creation, the Splinter (what else?), with a top speed of 240 mph, should be completed this year.
