ZapRoot gives two nods to Red, Green, and Blue this week with their usual brand of critical eco-snark.

This week at ZapRoot: Is Google destroying the planet one search at a time? The recycling market has gone bust. And check out “That’s Just Weird.”

Last month, The Times said that two typical Google searches generate the same amount of carbon emissions that are generated by boiling a kettle, “about 15g of CO2.” This week Zaproot focuses on this and other information in its stranger than truth show “That’s Just Weird.”

In watching this green news update from ZapRoot, I noticed they referenced our blog post entitled “my letter to my representatives protesting the consumer product safety improvement act”.

This is an important topic, and we are happy to see it in the news. One of the important points the ZapRoot news flash points out is that this act will create more terrible landfill waste, because places like the goodwill, and thrift stores, will not be able to sell their “untested” products. Handmade items are often created with reclaimed or recycled materials and have become creative ways too lesson the burden of landfill waste on our planet.  Hopefully once more of us tune into the issue, we will stop this extremist consumer protectionism.

This week our friends at ZapRoot take an exhaustive look at the elusive clean coal. In short, the reality of clean coal is that it doesn’t exist and now ZapRoot has jumped into the mix with does some more entertaining debunking of the clean coal myth.
