Zero S and DS Electric Motorcycles are Now $1,000 Cheaper

Zero Motorcycles has just announced that they are the first electric motorcycle company to meet all US and Canadian safety standards as well as pass EPA certification allowing their bikes to qualify for major federal tax credits of 10% of the purchase price as well as a state sales tax credit.

Zero DS: A More Aggressive Electric Motorcycle

A lot of electric vehicles suffer from performance anxiety. That is to say, they are green and clean, but not very mean, the Tesla Roadster being a notable exception. Sometimes though, you just want to go fast. I had my first hybrid experience the other day, and while the Honda Insight I drove wasn’t the worst ride I’ve ever had, I could see myself getting very bored, very quickly with such an underpowered car (in my opinion, of course).

But I doubt I would get bored with the Zero DS, the latest electric motorcycle to be unveiled by Zero Motorcycles. Built from the ground up and utilizing the latest techniques and technology, this durable dirtbike promises off-road performance with streetwise manners. And it had better for the asking price $9,950.

US Scientists Say Burning Ice Could Provide Green Power

US Scientists have revealed how natural gas locked up in frozen water crystals could provide massive amounts of energy, and claim that it could even be totally emissions-free.

The astonishing claim was made by Tim Collett of the United States Geological Survey at last weeks national meeting of the American Chemical Society. Collett told the gathering that, to the naked eye, clathrate hydrate (CH) looks like everyday ice but, as well as being partly made of water, the molecules are also organised into “cages”, which trap individual molecules of methane.

Remarkably, a new method of extracting the methane and ’swapping’ it with carbon dioxide could turn the substance into a revolutionary carbon-neutral fossil fuel.

Tazzari ZERO Electric Car Goes Live With Interactive Website

Zero

Just a few short months after the announcing their new Tazzari Zero EV, the Tazzari company has gone live with a proper website for their slick little electric vehicle — a welcome change from most vaporware peddlers, who build websites first and products last (if ever!).

The Zero’s new website includes a full gallery of images, an interactive configurator (pictured), and — surprise! — videos (plural!) of a running prototype.

More about the upcoming Tazzari Zero - and a bit of Tazzari history - after the jump.
